24062019 Unnecessary Stress

Started my 4 am day with some work — chasing up a few deposits. Had a slice of bread with cream cheese. Got changed and was heading to the gym. Due to the road works, buses, we’re not on schedule. I got pissed. Released my anger whilst swearing on my way to the other bus stop. Got on the bus, got to the gym, that’s what’s important right?
It took me the whole session to let go of the fact that I lost 30 minutes. But in my head, it wasn’t just 30-60 second minutes. “you just lost 30 minutes, that means you have to work 30 minutes longer, if you want to cut it down you got to etc.” This spiral thought was slowly diminished by asking myself “and?”. So what if I have to stay 30 minutes longer? Do I have plans after? No. So, what’s the issue? Thing is, there is no issue with staying longer at work, as long as I did my work. I just wanted earlier “just cos”.
How many times have I done something “just cos”. It’s inflexible. It causes unnecessary stress. It’s dumb.
Point is, always question the reaction to the situation. So what if I had to wait an extra 20 minutes —
  1. How does that affect me?
  2. If it does, what can I do to mitigate the consequences.
  3. Precautions for next time?
I’m just another human.
